Dick’s Sporting Goods – Spring of 2015 | Meadowood Mall

Dick’s Sporting Good’s has not announced it, Cinemark has not either, in fact, nobody has officially (at the time of this post), but the Reno rumor-mill has been filled with whispers of their arrival. According to application paperwork filed by national design group, Kimley Horn (City of Reno App SPR15-00002 (Meadowood Mall Expansion)), they are seeking site proposal review for a 50,600 SF sporting goods store and a cinema that holds 1,325 seats. The project will be on the South Side of the mall, the sporting goods store will be attached or just adjacent to the mall and the cinema will be detached and right off of Meadowood Mall Circle. The site has an existing traffic impact study that reports that it is believed to be able to support the additional traffic. The mock-ups show the sporting goods store to be named Dick’s Sporting Goods, indicating that the owner’s of Meadowood Mall, Simon Property Group have struck a deal or are close to it with Dick’s Sporting Goods (see site plans here). Regardless, this is exiciting news for Reno, NV citizens as it opens up the second large sporting goods store in the Reno Sparks region. Time will tell if Reno-Sparks can handle two big box (really big) sporting goods stores, the first being Scheels.
